LEGISLATIVE UPDATE/POLITICAL NEWS & LINKS​

 

CALIFORNIA UPDATE

  • NEWSOM SIGNS $50 MILLION BILL TO “TRUMP PROOF” CALIFORNIA. He signed the bill into law just a few days after meeting with Trump, groveling for federal dollars.

​

  • NEWSOM EXPECTED TO VETO A BILL TO EXPAND CA SANCTUARY STATE LAW.  The bill would have protected convicted criminals in prisons from deportation and any cooperation with ICE.

​

  • NEWSOM ISSUED AN EXECUTIVE ORDER TO CAPTURE AND STORE MORE WATER FROM THE UPCOMING STORMS IN CALIFORNIA. He states, “we’re creating a literal rainy-day fund for our hotter, drier future.”  He didn’t need to issue an executive order for something we have demanded (and paid for) over all these years. He loves to be filmed and look authoritative.  Remember when Atmospheric Rivers were called rain?

  • NEWSOM WATER UPDATE CHASER. Amid all our water and fire woes, California is to spend $500 Million to destroy a century old dam, ending a water supply and hydroelectric power. This is the Potter Valley Project which Newsom hopes no one will hear about.

​

  • GAVIN NEWSOM 2022: California will be the first state to offer universal healthcare to illegal immigrants (which he predicted to cost $3 Billion).  Current cost $9.5 Billion.

​

  • MANDATORY EV CARS AND BANNING GAS CARS.  The federal waiver that California needed to affect its ban on gas powered cars is dead.  Biden didn’t sign it and Trump absolutely will not sign.

​

  • CALIFORNIA WILL NOT COMPLY WITH TRUMP’S EXECUTIVE ORDERS:

    • Paso Robles Schools have placed menstrual products in the boys’ bathrooms to comply with California AB230 which went into effect in the 2024-2025 school year.

    • Bonta has notified hospitals that they are to continue with child mutilations and hormone injections (which he calls gender affirming care) to comply with state laws.

    • Bonta says that the federal government sets a floor – not a ceiling when it comes to additional protections for transgender, nonbinary, intersex and gender nonconforming students, so look for this insanity indoctrination to continue to vulnerable kids.

    • Bonta states that California’s Constitution sets its own separate and strong standards, and that California law REQUIRES that” K-12 schools provide inclusive curriculum that reflect the roles and contributions of all genders, races, person with disabilities and members of other ethnic, cultural, religious and socioeconomic status groups.”

    • Bonta and other blue states are going after Trump for freezing federal funds. Bonta states that these federal funds amount to 1/3 of California’s budget! (REALLY? We pay the highest taxes and still rely on the feds for 1/3 of our budget????)  This includes $107.5 Billion in Medicaid funding for about 14.5 million Californians (which would include illegal aliens). Pretty astounding numbers!!  Bonta states that these frozen funds are across an array of programs including healthcare, childcare and foster care; education; nutritional support; roads and bridge repairs; supporting the state workforce, reducing pollution and funding for rebates and subsidies for CLEANER, SAFER, MORE AFFORDABLE HOMES; AND PROGRAMS AIMED AT REDUCING GREENHOUSE EMISSIONS AND AIR POLUTION. For example, ST JOHN’S COMMUNITY HEALTH clinics said that its federal grant for its transgender health program has been terminated resulting in a loss of more than $740,000.

  • SOLAR POWER PROJECT OF $2.2 BILLION DOLLARS GOES BUST! The Ivanpah Solar Project required us to pay 5 times the normal power costs to offset the subsidies. In addition to incinerating birds, there has been no reporting as to where they will deposit all these solar panels/mirrors when they shut them down at the end of the year. What are the clean-up costs?

  • MEDICAL SERVICES MAILED TO CALIFORNIANS. The booklet states the Medi-Cal services are free for most teens and young adults up to age 21. It states, “Sexual Health Services” can include Abortion services and Gender-affirming care among other services.

​

  • CALIFORNIA’S HIGH-SPEED RAIL TO NOWHERE. It’s been 17 years with an initial cost estimate of $33 Billion which now is estimated to cost $128 Billion. Kevin Kiley, CA House member has introduced legislation to stop the federal government from any further funding.  This bill would also claw back $3.4 billion that Biden gave Newsom for the train. An IG report found that the Rail Autority can’s even complete the first segment without these funds.

CALIFORNIA INSURANCE

  • CALIFORNIA INSURANCE COMMISSIONER REJECTED STATE FARM’S REQUEST FOR EMERGENCY RATE INCREASES.  This has the potential to have State Farm pull out of California.  There is to be a meeting on February 26.  State Farm’s increases were reasonable in comparison to those that have had to go off market to get homeowner’s insurance, often times paying 10 – 20X last year’s premiums.

 

CALIFORNIA FIRE/FLOOD UPDATE

  • GAVIN NEWSOM TO BAN PLANTS WITHIN 5 FEET OF HOMES IN FIRE-PRONE AREAS. What part of California is not considered a fire-prone area? In appearing on CNN, Newsom said that homeowners “can’t rebuild the same” and that residents would have to rebuild according to “science” and “climate reality.”  Newsom is ordering the state to speed up its RULEMAKING for wildfire safety around homes in fire-prone areas.  On part of the rule would ban most plants and combustible material like mulch and wood fencing. The rules would require people to clear an area within 5 feet of homes – dubbed zone zero, or an ember resistant zone.

  • PACIFIC PALISADES REBUILDING MUST INCLUDE LOW-INCOME HOUSING according to Los Angeles law.

​

  • KAREN BASS HIRES SOBOROFF TO LEAD FIRE RECOVERY EFFORTS. She had agreed to pay him $500,000 for 90 days of work. When disclosed, he said he would do it for free. But then, it was disclosed that Randy Johnson will report to Soboroff and will receive $250,000 for 90 days! Where can I apply for this gig? This compensation would come from charitable organizations (would have assumed that charitable organizations would have designated funds to go to citizens affected by the fires???).

​

  • KAREN BASS HIRES ILLINOIS RECOVERY FIRM TO AID IN FIRE REBUILD PLAN (for an undisclosed amount). It has been reported that two of this firms former executives were found guilty of stealing funds on other consulting projects.

​

  • NEWSOM TOUTS HIS AMAZINGNESS in his superior ability to coordinate various agencies to begin the clean-up process only (?) 35 days after the fire ignited. This is the first phase of cleanup by the EPA to prepare for the “next phase” which will pave the way for the structural debris removal.   In ensuring that homeowners were shielded from any ability to remove hazardous materials or debris from their property in a timely manner, enough time lapsed for the rains to come and wash hazardous materials into the ocean.

​

  • NEWSOM EXPANDS FIRE HAZARD SEVERITY ZONES.  You can find maps of moderate, high and very high zones at www.osfm.fire.ca.gov. (As can the insurance companies).

 
SAN DIEGO COUNTY UPDATE

  • FEDERAL DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION used $1.2 Million of our tax dollars to fund an LGBTQIA+ Pride Center at San Diego community colleges. These funds were pulled from the Department of Education’s “Disaster Emergency Fund Code.”

​

  • UC SAN DIEGO ONE OF MANY SAN DIEGO RECEIPIENTS OF USAID MONEY. $38 Million was awarded to IMPROVE GLOBAL HEALTH EQUITY. The project was dubbed “Agency for All” This project is housed within the Center on Gender Equity and Health at UCSD.

​

  • SAN DIEGO CITY FACES $258M BUDGET DEFICIT.  The Office of the Independent Budget Analyst is seeking public input with the final forum for public input on Thursday, February 20, 6-8 PM, Mira Mesa Senior Center.  The County is putting forward ways to increase revenue instead of reviewing cost-cutting measures.  Potential increases:  Sales and Hotel tax rates; trash collection fees; increased parking meter fees/parking fees.

  • DEI ELIMINATED FROM ALL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES. States and Schools that refuse to eliminate DEI will not receive federal dollars.

  • FEDERAL GOVERNMENT RECOGNIZED THAT ONLY GIRLS BELONG IN GIRLS SPORTS! Executive order bans transgender athletes from competing against girls

  • IMPOSED SANCTIONS ON THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT.

  • TRUMP DEMANDS AN INVESTIGATION ON CALIFORNIA’S TRAIN TO NOWHERE. California has been building the High-Speed Rail for 17 years and the project was promised to cost $33 billion and be completed by 2020. 17 years later and the project has ballooned to at least $128 Billion. There have been substantial funds thrown into this project. We need California DOGE to do a deep dive.

  • TRUMP FIRES BOARD OF KENNEDY CENTER. He appointed Ric Grennell acting chair, siting the Kennedy center’s past drag shows “targeting” children.

  • TRUMP DISMISSES HEAD OF NATIONAL ARCHIVES. You know, the woman that colluded with the Biden administration on the Mar-a-Lago Trump document case.

  • TRUMP ENDS BIDEN’S RIDICULOUS PAPER STRAW INITIATIVE. You can choose!

  • THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT CANCELS $15 MILLION IN GRANTS FOR DEI PROGRAM AT THREE UNIVERSITIES

  • TRUMP STOPS U.S. STEEL SALE TO JAPAN AND INSTEAD RECRUITS THEM AS INVESTOR. In addition, Japan is committed to invest $1 Trillion in U.S. Manufacturing.

  • TRUMP REVOKES SECURITY CLEARANCES FOR BIDEN, THE DIRTY 51 SIGNERS OF THE LETTER and followed up a week later revoking security clearances for Alvin Bragg, Antony Blinken, Jake Sullivan, Andrew Weissman and NY AG Letitia James. (If you recall, Biden took the unprecedented step of revoking President Trump’s Security Clearance immediately after he left office. 

  • CHRIS WRIGHT, MAGA NEWLY CONFIRMED ENERGY SECRETARY. In his speech to National Conservatism, he states, “Media and politicians NEVER bothered to actually learn about climate change.”  We spent $2 Trillion to lower fossil fuel use by 2%. They are not save the planet – they are robbing YOU.

  • EXECUTIVE ORDER INSTRUCTING HEADS OF FEDERAL DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES TO UNDERTAKE PLANS FOR “LARGE -SCALE REDUCTIONS IN FORCE.”

  • TRUMP IS MAKING SHOWERS GREAT AGAIN.  President Trump is scrapping Biden restrictions on water flow, lightbulbs, home appliances.

  • EXECUTIVE ORDER SIGNED DEFUNDING SCHOOLS WITH COVID INJECTION MANDATES.

  • BLOOMBERG NEF SUMMIT. They discussed the opportunities and challenges with electrified transport in California. These self-professed experts discussed the “exciting” near and long-term planning solutions underway to prepare the grid for increasing EV and building decarb demand(?) that will bring us closer to net zero goals. THANK GOD FOR COMMON SENSE AND PRESIDENT DONALD J TRUMP! Watch and see if California really intends to provide its own EV rebates now that the federal government will not subsidize.

​

  • CALIFORNIA & MINNESOTA UNDER INVESTIGATION.  These states are fighting to keep men in women’s sports and contend that state law preempts federal law.  As this winds its way through the courts, there is a strong possibility of losing federal funding.  

​

  • A WINNING STRATEGY FOR CONSERVATIVES IN CALIFORNIA. Kevin Kiley (despite the beta boy look) doesn’t straddle the fence in stating common sense points:
